Pauanui Wastewater Treatment Plant in the Thames-Coromandel district.
Thames-Coromandel is a district in the north east of New Zealand's North Island and includes the towns of Thames, Coromandel, Whangamata, Tairua, Pauanui, Cooks Beach, Hahei, Whitianga and Matarangi.
Veolia Water operates and maintains the district's 10 wastewater schemes, 11 water schemes and all storm water assets.
The district is a popular summer and vacation destination for New Zealanders. It has a residential population of 27,000 people which can swell to 150,000 during peak holiday periods.
The Thames-Coromandel Eastern Seaboard contract incorporates the operations and maintenance of three advanced wastewater treatment plants at Whangamata, Pauanui and Whitianga on the North Island.
The plants have a combined capacity of 70 megalitres per day and feature primary, secondary and tertiary treatment. Both the Pauanui and Whitianga plants feature treated wastewater disposal systems and all the plants have wastes solids management systems for sludge dewatering and removal to landfill.
