Veolia Water in Australia and New Zealand

Veolia Water commenced operations in Australia in 1994 and in New Zealand in 1997. It partners with clients to deliver, operate and manage water and wastewater infrastructure and services. Veolia Water ensures solutions suit the needs and expectations of every client while delivering quality services and value for money.

Today, Veolia Water is involved with some of the most significant water infrastructure projects in Australia and around the world. From combating drought to dealing with water quality issues in times of floods, it can draw on its extensive global network of research, innovations, ideas and expertise.

Veolia Water provides integrated water solutions which incorporate service, value and a social and environmentally responsible approach to urban services, water for industry, desalination and recycled water for reuse:

Urban services

Industry leaders in operations and maintenance, upgrading and managing water and wastewater treatment infrastructure. In Australia and New Zealand, Veolia Water's 22 long term contracts provide water and wastewater services for up to four million people. This includes operations and maintenance of water treatment plants in Illawarra and Woronora on the New South Wales south coast, which provide more than 500,000 people with high quality drinking water.

Water for industry

Veolia Water specialise in managing water and wastewater assets to provide improved water management solutions for industrial clients, enabling them to concentrate on their core business activities. For industrial client Macquarie Generation which runs the Bayswater Power Station in New South Wales, an upgrade of the station's four ageing water treatment plants involved designing and building a new Bayswater Power Station Water Treatment Plant and introducing a high level of treatment to maximise reuse of the water.

The company operates more than 200 desalination plants around the world, producing more than 1,000 megalitres of drinking water per day. In Australia, Veolia Water operates and maintains large scale desalination plants in Sydney and the Gold Coast, capable of producing drinking water for more than 2.15 million people everyday.

Recycling water for reuse

Veolia Water designs, constructs and operates wastewater recycling plants and creates purified recycled water for reuse. In Australia, this includes the design, build and operations of the Fairfield Recycled Water Plant in Sydney (part of the Rosehill Recycled Water Scheme) which from mid 2011 began providing industrial customers with more than four billion litres of recycled water each year.
