Veolia Water supports a range of charitable and not for profit initiatives for both local communities where the company operates and at a national level.
Each site where Veolia Water operates in Australia and New Zealand supports a local not for profit organisation or local community event.
Each was chosen by the local Veolia Water teams about what was important to them in their community. Each charity or event delivers broad social or environmental benefits. Many of these have a clear link to water, however some were chosen purely due to employee interest and participation.
Across Australia and New Zealand, Veolia Water supports a wide range of charities and not for profit organisations. The national initiatives that the company supports were chosen as they represent areas that both the company and its employees agreed were important and relevant.
On top of financial support, employees are also encouraged to get involved and participate in these initiatives.
At both a local and international level, the company supports disaster relief through company-wide donations and employee involvement, including a global Veolia Water disaster response team which provides humanitarian assistance by sending volunteers and equipment to areas affected by disasters, such as the Haiti earthquake in 2009.
Veolia Water together with Veolia Environmental Services, Veolia Transport and Veolia Energy, donated A$350,000 to the Red Cross Bush Fire Appeal in February 2009. Many Veolia Water Australia employees also donated an hour of their pay to this cause.
The program allows Veolia Water employees to reguarly donate a portion of their pay to a choice of three national charities. Each dollar donated is matched by the company - doubling the amount that goes directly to the charity!
