Rosehill Recycled Water Scheme, New South Wales

The Rosehill Recycled Water Scheme will reduce the demand on Sydney's drinking water supply by providing high volume industrial water users with more than four billion litres of recycled water a year by 2011.

The scheme is part of the NSW Government's commitment to increase the use of recycled water.

AquaNet Sydney (part of the Jemena Ltd group) together with Veolia Water are responsible for designing, building and operating the recycled water scheme including a water treatment plant with a capacity of 20 million litres per day. This plant will treat wastewater by ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis to a very high quality suitable for irrigation and industrial use.

Veolia Water is responsible for designing, building, financing and operating the water recycling plant.

The Rosehill Recycled Water Scheme is Australia's first private scheme for high grade recycled water. It will have the capacity to produce an extra three billion litres of recycled water per year if required in the future.
