Adelaide Management Contract, South Australia

United Water, a wholly owned subsidiary, provides water services for the 1.1 million residents of Adelaide on behalf of SA Water. In addition to maintaining a 17,000 km mains network and managing A$6 billion worth of local assets, United Water also operates six water treatment plants and five wastewater treatment plants.

This is the largest contract for operations and maintenance of water services in Australia. It was also the first water and wastewater services contract to be awarded by an Australian city to a specialised operations company.

United Water is also responsible for:

  • designing and delivering SA Water's metropolitan capital works program
  • developing asset management plans
  • delivering an environmental improvement program
  • managing and operating a customer call centre which receives over 125,000 calls each year

Through its partnership with SA Water, United Water is also playing another major role operating four recycling water schemes including the Glenelg to Adelaide Park Lands project.
