Veolia Water's contract for the Illawarra and Woronora water filtration plants in NSW was one of the first Build, Own and Operate (BOO) schemes in Australia.

Since securing the contract in 1996, Veolia Water has developed a strong partnership with Sydney Water to provide high quality drinking water to over 500,000 Sydneysiders.

Opening of Gerringong - winners of colouring competition

One of the world's most advanced wastewater treatment plants

An advanced treatment plant built by Veolia Water provides wastewater services to the communities of Gerringong and Gerroa in NSW under a 20-year Design, Build and Operate (DBO) contract with Sydney Water.

The plant incorporates ozonation, biological activated carbon, CMF and ultraviolet disinfection, making it one of the most advanced in the world.

One of the world's largest water treatment plants

At its completion in June 2002 the Bendigo Water Treatment Plant, built and currently operated by Veolia Water, was the largest water treatment plant in the world using submerged microfiltration membrane technology for treating drinking water (126 million litres a day capacity), with microfiltration guaranteeing the removal of Cryptosporidium and Giardia contamination from unprotected rural catchments serving a population of 100,000 in Bendigo.

Bolivar Wastewater Treatment Plant

The first and largest reclaimed water scheme of its type in Australia

The Virginia Pipeline Scheme is the first and largest reclaimed water scheme of its type in Australia. 

United Water and SA Water constructed a $30 million filtration/disinfection plant (DAFF) to treat lagoon effluent from the Bolivar wastewater treatment plant, producing Class A reclaimed water which can be used for irrigation of Virginia's crops.
