Veolia Water is a specialist in building and operating advanced wastewater treatment and reuse plants.
In order to reuse treated wastewater, Veolia Water has developed solutions (reverse osmosis, thermal osmosis) to enable recycled water to be earmarked for industrial use (cooling facilities, feeding boilers, process water).
When combined with additional treatments (filtration, UV treatment), water treated in this way can be reused safely in agriculture (irrigation), tourism (watering green spaces) and as an alternative resource (recharging aquifers).
In practical terms, this includes completion of a 20 million litres a day Wollongong Reclamation Plant which uses a combination of microfiltration and reverse osmosis technology as part of Sydney Water's Illawarra Wastewater Strategy.
