  • In 2006 United Water celebrate the 10th anniversary operating Adelaide's water and wastewater systems on behalf of SA Water.
  • In the past four years, Veolia Water has signed partnerships with Pudong-Shanghai, Shenzhen and Kunming in China serving a combined population of around 4 million.

A contractual relationship

Local authorities are at the heart of Veolia Water's business.

Both historically and in the future, this form of outsourcing agreement is a contractual relationship tailored to each individual local authority, where by it retains complete control in order to provide consumers with the best possible service.

The company currently operates over five continents and has almost 5,000 operating contracts in 59 countries.

  • Gold Coast, QLD - 125 ML/d RO high quality drinking water desalination Plant, biggest in Australia
  • Illawarra and Woronora, NSW - drinking water for up to half a million people south of Sydney
  • Adelaide, SA - water and wastewater services for one million people through United Water
  • Ballarat, VIC - Two plants with combined capacity of 130 ML/d DAFF water treatment facilities and associated pipelines
  • Gerringong and Gerroa, NSW - 2.2 ML/d advanced tertiary sewerage scheme
  • Noosa, QLD - major ozone/Biological Activated Carbon (BAC) drinking water plant
  • Bendigo, VIC (Three plants) - Largest plant 126 ML/d submerged membrane and Ozone/BAC drinking water
  • In New Zealand, our subsidiary United Water operates and maintains :

  • Papakura - water and wastewater services to 43,000 residents - first agreement of its type in NZ
  • A Veolia Water Company

  • Wellington - 2 wastewater treatment plants, a sludge dewatering plant, a 9km twin sludge pipeline and a 1.8km outfall pipe
  • Ruapehu and Thames-Coromandel - management, maintenance and operation of water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure for 40,000 residents
